Music, Change, and the Singing Revolution

The topic of this lecture-concert covered what is typically known as the 'Singing Revolution,' where citizens in the Baltic states, through acts of great solidarity and defiance, congregated to sing for their freedom from Soviet occupation. Music played a pivotal role in galvanizing Baltic citizens to demand the reinstitution of state sovereignty and protection for their fundamental freedoms and human rights. With a live choir performing music from the Singing Revolution, this lecture-concert explored music's unique ability to incite profound societal changes.
